TAUC Leadership Conference 2011

Tuesday, May 10 - Friday, May 13, 2011
The Greenbrier Resort
300 West Main Street [map]
White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986

The Association of Union Constructors is pleased to present TAUC Leadership Conference 2011.

As the national trade association for the union construction industry, TAUC strives to create and deliver events that capture the energy of the dynamic union construction market and offer necessary opportunities for union contractors, industrial business owners and union representatives to learn and network with fellow union construction professionals. TAUC events are a means of advancing the union construction industry's collective interests in labor relations, education, safety and health, and work opportunities.

The theme for this year's Leadership Conference is "Achieving Success Through Collaboration." The program will focus on the importance of collaboration in all areas of a contractor's business, both internally (with your own employees and business divisions) and externally (with unions, owners and, yes, even other contractors).

This year TAUC is pleased to have not one but two Building Trades General Presidents speaking at the conference: Walter Wise, the new GP of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, and Terence O'Sullivan, GP of the Laborers' International Union of North America.

Our keynote speaker will be General James Conway, retired four-star general and 34th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps. His previous postings include serving as the Director of Operations (J-3) on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commanding General of I Marine Expeditionary Force from 2002 through 2004, where he took part in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and Operation Vigilant Resolve in Fallujah, Iraq. He has a highly-decorated record of military achievement, and is an authority on leadership, team-building and crisis management. Commandant Gen. Mike Hagee said Conway is a "superb, multi-talented leader who has proven he can do it all, on and off the battlefield."

Other speakers include Matt Stevens, President of Stevens Construction Institute, who will be speaking on managing construction crafts and labor; and Harvey Katz, Co-Chair of Fox Rothschild's Employee Benefits & Compensation Practice, on what contractors should know when receiving a Red Zone notification.

If you've never attended a TAUC Leadership Conference before, you can expect a full roster of high-quality speakers as well as numerous networking opportunities -- gourmet meals, a gala reception and dance and golf tournament, to name just a few. The conference also hosts the James J. Willis Craftsperson of the Year and Thomas J. Reynolds Safety Awards presentations, two of the industry's most prestigious safety recognition programs. Please join us!
