NMAPC Zero Injury Safety Awards Gala

The National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee is pleased to present the 9th annual Zero Injury Safety Awards Gala, the most prestigious safety award program in the construction industry.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the National Air & Space Museum located at Independence Avenue at 6th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20560.

A cocktail reception will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., and dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. All guests MUST enter the National Air & Space Museum from Independence Avenue and you MUST have photo identification.

We will honor more than 11 million work-hours performed injury-free on industrial construction projects covered by national maintenance agreements. This total is the second highest reported number of hours for safety since 2000.

Transportation service is available to-and-from the St. Regis Hotel to the National Air & Space Museum. Please indicate if you need transportation service when registering online for this event. The bus will board at 5:45 p.m. and depart the St. Regis Hotel promptly at 6:00 p.m. The bus will return to the St. Regis Hotel at the conclusion of the Zero Injury Safety Awards Gala. If you request bus transportation you MUST pick-up your name badge at the St. Regis Hotel Concierge desk. Your name badge will be your ticket to board the bus.

If you are an award winner be prepared to take your award(s) home following the Zero Injury Safety Awards Gala. Please note that some award winners may receive multiple awards, therefore we urge you to be prepared to transport your award(s) home. The NMAPC will not be responsible for shipping awards.

Hotel reservations at The St. Regis Hotel must be cancelled 72 hours prior to date of arrival to avoid a one night room and tax charge. All no-shows will be billed for one night's room and tax.

The hotel is conveniently located one block away from two Metrorail stops: McPhearson Square (Orange and Blue Line) and Farraguth North (Red Line). General Directions to the St. Regis Hotel
From Dulles International Airport (IAD)
* Take Dulles Access Road to Route 66 East (14 miles).
* Take the Roosevelt Bridge and stay on right lane which will become Constitution Avenue.
* Turn left on 17th Street.
* Turn right on H Street.
* Turn left on 16th Street - the hotel is located on the right.
Travel time is approximately 45 minutes.

From 95 South (Richmond)
* Follow I 395 N, cross bridge into District of Columbia and stay in left lane.
* Follow route US-1 N toward downtown.
* Stay straight to go onto 14th Street.
* Turn left on I Street.
Turn right on 16th Street - the hotel is located on the right.
Travel time varies by starting point.

From Union Station
* Take Mass Avenue NW to 16th Street.
* Go around circle to take 16th Street.
* Stay on 16th Street for two blocks - the hotel is located on the left.
Travel time is approximately 10 minutes.

From National Reagan Airport (DCA)
* Take George Washington Parkway North to 395 N.
* Cross bridge and stay on left lane which will become 14th Street.
* Continue to I Street NW and turn left.
* Follow to 16th Street.
* Turn right on 16th Street - the hotel is located on the right.
Travel time is approximately 15 minutes.

From 95 North (Baltimore-New York)
* Take route 50 West (New York Avenue) to 9th Street NW and turn left.
* Go down two blocks and turn right on New York Avenue again.
* Go two blocks (past 10th Street), stay in right lane, which will become I Street.
* Follow to 16th Street and turn right - the hotel is located on the right.
Travel time varies by starting point.


Travel Information:

Parking: Parking is available after 6:10 p.m. in the underground garage of the National Air & Space Museum, located at the entrance off 4th Street.


You MUST pre-register no later than Oct. 15 to gain access to the parking garage. Photo identification will be required upon entry.


Limited metered street parking is also available. Please read signs carefully for parking hours and permit restrictions. Parking is available in several local lots/garages located at the Verizon Center's 6th Street entrance and at the corner of 7th and H Streets. Parking is also available two blocks south of the Museum at 4th and C Streets (under Holiday Inn).

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS TO THE NATIONAL AIR & SPACE MUSEUM
The National Air & Space Museum is located on the National Mall, between the Capitol building and the Smithsonian Castle. Bordered by Independence Avenue, Jefferson Drive, 4th and 7th Streets in southwest Washington, DC For National Air & Space general information call (202) 633-1000.

BY METRORAIL/METROBUS

TRANSPORTATION FROM MAJOR AIRPORTS (BWI, IAD, DCA)
Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI):

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD):
To the National Mall building: The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority web site provides Ground Transportation options from Washington Dulles International Airport.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA):
To the National Mall building: The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is located in Alexandria, VA, just across the Potomac River from downtown Washington, DC. Taxi service is available or you can use Metrorail. The Metrorail station is accessible via covered bridge from the airport terminal. Take the Yellow Line toward Gallery Place/Chinatown and get off at L'Enfant Plaza. Exit the Metro station using the Maryland Avenue exit. Follow 7th Street or Maryland Avenue north to Independence Avenue. The Museum is located across Independence Avenue.

National Air & Space Museum offer exterior access ramps. Interior access is provided via elevators.

Wheelchair Availability
Wheelchairs are available at no charge with valid ID. Please go to the Security desk in the National Air & Space Museum to inquire about wheelchair availability. Wheelchairs are provided on a first come, first serve basis.
